About Us

First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Cedar Grove has been shaped by a long rich heritage rooted in faith and history. On September 6, 1848 a small group of Hollanders met and organized the First Church of the Reformed Faith. Later, in 1853, the church formally executed a certificate of organization becoming the First Presbyterian Church of the Town of Holland. Its first place of worship was a small log building that served its members for 12 years.

In November 1921 the congregation relocated to its present site on North Main Street in Cedar Grove.

In April of 2005, our congregation voted to explore an amicable separation with the Presbyterian Church, USA. In May 2006, the congregation voted unanimously to join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Our name was changed to First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in November of that year. A special service on December 17, 2006 celebrated our reception into the Evangelical Presbyterian denomination. Today, First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Cedar Grove continues to seek to fulfill its calling in several ways: as a family oriented church and mission oriented church. This pursuit is evident in the many opportunities for participation such as Sunday morning worship, an active and growing nursery, Sunday School classes for men, women and children, community Bible studies, Praise Team, a women's group and our fund raising opportunities to support local and global missions.

First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Cedar Grove is proud of its Biblical heritage but also is looking to the future to become a missional church. We invite you to come and join us in planting God's word at home and throughout the world.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the lands, serve the Lord with gladness! Psalm 100:1-2a
